Preference will be given to a student who actively engages in healthcare related volunteer work and intends to practice on PEI. |
| Background: | Chritine and Peter Wilkey relocated to Prince Edward Island in 2025 from Medicine Hat, Alberta, drawn back to a place they had first fallen in live with more than 25 years ago. They chose PEI as a peaceful setting for retirement, where they could enjoy the beaches and strong sense of community. Since arriving, they've been very happy with their decision and the life they've built on the Island. Like many Islanders, the Wilkey's have experienced challenges accessing primary care and are currently on a wait list for a family doctor. This reality has deepened their understanding of how important it is to train and reatin future physicians locally. When they learned about the Faculty of Medicine presence on PEI, they saw an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. |
