Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre

Dedicated to his late father Chi-Wan Young on behalf of Albert Bing-Ching Young (SDU ’60), the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre was opened in 1990, in time to host the Canada Winter Games in 1991.

The Sports Centre has a two-lane walking/running track, squash courts, two fitness studios and three full-sized courts that can accommodate basketball, volleyball, and badminton. A wide selection of equipment may be signed out at the front desk.

The Sports Centre has modern locker rooms. Locker use is single day use only and users must please bring their own lock. Automated External Defibrillators are available in Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre (across from the Panther Central Desk and in the Fitness Centre).

The Fitness Centre has numerous cardio equipment pieces including Keiser bikes, upright and recumbent bikes, Summit Trainer, ellipticals, treadmills (Life Fitness & Woodway), self powered treadmill, Cybex Arc Trainers, Precor Adaptive Motion Trainer and Concept 2 Rowers. It is also equipped with fifteen Life Fitness Signature Series Single stations as well as Cybex Total Access stations which are wheelchair accessible - Shoulder Press, Chest Press, Deltoid Row and Lat Pulldown. The free weight area includes squat racks, cable cross overs, a variety of plate loaded machines, benches, dumbbells, bars, plates, ropes, foam rollers, medicine balls, Bosu Trainers, etc.

The Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre has the capacity to host large-scale events from national sport championships to concerts, trade shows and symposiums.
