AVC Chiropterologist to give Bat Workshop at Earth Expo Sat Apr 23

Posting Date(s)
'A world with, or without, bats' will be the topic for one of the workshops at the 6th Annual Family Earth Expo, which takes place on Saturday April 23 from 1 - 4 pm at the PEI Farm Centre, 420 University Avenue (next to CBC). Chiropterologist Jordi Segers from the Atlantic Veterinary College will talk about bat species of PEI and the world, the importance of bats, and threats to bats, including white-nose syndrome and what is being done against this devastating disease.

Segers is a Wildlife Manager and the national bat white-nose syndrome scientific program coordinator, based at the AVC. He invites Islanders of all ages to "Come learn about the largest and smallest bat species in the world, and why you should love bats; there are many reasons."

The Expo, presented by PEI Sierra Club, is an all-ages event with information booths by green businesses and environmental groups; live music; art displays and activities; food; family science activities; and other attractions.  Admission is by donation.
