Dr. Scott Cassidy combines research with years of real-world practice. He holds a PhD in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Guelph and a diploma in information technology from Conestoga College. Before joining UPEI, he worked as a consultant for clients in healthcare, education, first response, financial services, agriculture and immigration services. Most recently, he worked in the high-stakes professional testing industry, building competency models, entry-to-practice exams and employee selection tests.

Today his research looks at how the workplace is changing. He studies how to manage a workforce that is increasingly remote and digital, and how employees build a sense of identity and meaning in their work when they aren't in the office. He also develops assessment methods that are accurate and fair for diverse groups of candidates and employees. His work has appeared in the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, the International Journal of Selection and Assessment and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences.

Dr. Cassidy teaches in UPEI's BBA and MBA programs, mainly in human resource management, data analytics, research methods and evidence-based management. His teaching won several awards at the University of Guelph, including the 2021 Teaching and Learning Excellence Award for Sessional Instructors.
