The Abegweit PEI branch of EULAC is currently seeking a student with strong research skills and potentially a specialization in Economics, Commerce or Business Administration, Public Administration.

Project or activity description: Prince Edward Island’s colonial economic model was known as the Wood, Wind and Sail model. With the influx of a large United Empire Loyalist population from the United States industries greatly expanded and other industries were created. This project seeks to gather data on Prince Edward Island’s primary colonial industries gleaned from historical documents and to attribute what percentage of the colonial GDP was derived from the United
Empire Loyalists and their children and grandchildren for the period of 1780-1850. For the purpose of this portion of the study, the research will be confined to the decades of 1780-1810.
