Graduate Student Assistant - Graduate Studies Events and Communications - Faculty of Graduate Studies
$21.85 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay
February 2, 2026 – April 30, 2026
Under the supervision and guidance of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Graduate Student Assistant: Graduate Studies Events & Communications will support engaging and building community amongst UPEI graduate students. The main focus of the role will be a combination of supporting events for graduate students (e.g., Orientation, Graduate Conversation Hours, Three Minute Thesis) and increasing communication with graduate students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and development of a graduate student focused Strategic Communication Plan for the Faculty of Graduate Studies
- Researching and developing content to contribute to the development of a monthly email newsletter for graduate students
- Research in support of developing graduate student event planning, hosting/co-hosting events of interest and need to graduate students
- Research in support of sourcing, creating & publishing content for social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) representing UPEI Faculty of Graduate Studies
- Contribute to development of web and social media content to communicate key information and profile graduate student achievements (e.g., spotlights, profiles of award winners & conference achievements, etc.)
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a student enrolled in a graduate program at UPEI
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, with strengths in building relationships with and amongst peers
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with engaging storytelling skills
- Strong demonstrated organizational skills and professional judgment
- Event planning experience
- Creative, and familiar with graphic design platforms like Canva
- Interest in communications & marketing, it would be an asset to have experience in these fields
- Experience in web copywriting and social media content development would be an asset
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and video editing skills would be an asset
