Technology Engagement Officers enable the campus community to achieve their strategic goals and operational objectives through technology-based solutions and process enhancements. Acting as a liaison between Information Technology Systems and Services (ITSS) and a diverse stakeholder community, Technology Engagement Officers are responsible for identifying gaps between solutions and institutional needs, providing guidance through organization change, recommending initiatives to support campus collaboration and enhance operational processes, and facilitating campus awareness and usage of institutional technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifying and understanding campus needs through departmental meetings with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals
- Helping the campus to understand complex technology products or services by explaining them in non-technical language
- Reviewing and working with relevant confidential and sensitive data
- Developing prototype procedures for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow
- Creating process maps, specifications diagrams, and charts reflecting operating procedures
- Identifying and establishing scope and parameters of process analysis to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions
- Developing project specific deployment plans integrating technology implementation concepts, change management best practices, and operational considerations
- Liaising with project implementation teams and operational teams on an ongoing basis to align expectations and ensure the ease of transition from projects to operations
- Creating and delivering project specific campus communication plans using a broad range of methods and mediums including digital presentations, email notifications, project newsletters, digital ads, website content, and procedural documentation
- Using organizational change management best practices, provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to project team colleagues and the campus community enhancing their engagement, understanding, and ownership for the implemented changes
- Training and educating colleagues on organizational change management best practices
- Coordinating and delivering training and support materials for campus partners
- Developing strong relationships and maintaining a network with university colleagues involved in various technology projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- University degree in the field of Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Network Engineering and a minimum of 7 years progressive experience in an information technology environment including 3 years' experience as a business analyst supporting multiple business areas and 3 years' experience as a project manager leading enterprise level projects. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
- Proven ability and experience working as an organizational change management leader
- Experience handling highly confidential information
- Experience working at a post-secondary educational institution would be considered an asset
- Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, CAPM, PMP, or Prosci Certified Change Practitioner would be considered an asset

- Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and excel in a fast-paced environment characterized by changing priorities
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with a solid knowledge of both English grammar and the specialized requirements associated with writing for the web and other digital media
- Ability to effectively interact and liaise with diverse groups at all levels
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage in active listening translating client needs into technological deliverables
- Ability to build consensus, foster teamwork among a variety of individuals, and lead integrated project teams
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in and contribute to an integrated and collaborative team environment and to apply a positive team approach to working with colleagues
Work Conditions
- Minimal physical demands, typical of a position operating within an office environment; periods of extensive sitting and concentrated use of visual senses. Occasional extended times of standing and walking during campus events
- Intermittent work outside the normal operating hours of the Department may be required
- Some exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of a position exposed to stress and pressure associated with projects and organizational change
