Learner Wellbeing and Success (LWS) Office Manager - Faculty of Medicine
$97,641 – $108,258 per annum
Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Affairs and matrixed to the Assistant Dean for Learner Wellbeing and Success (LWS). This entails overseeing the implementation of Accreditation action plans to ensure that systems, policies, and processes are in place to meet Accreditation standards specific to the LWS office as set forth by applicable accreditation bodies. Additionally, the role encompasses supervision of the Faculty of Medicine Financial Counselling and Student Wellness programs, the Career Counselling (MedCareers) program support, and student assistance services related to equity and professionalism. Responsibilities include facilitating orientation and student life services and collaborating with the Undergraduate Medical Education and Postgraduate Medical Education offices and the University of Prince Edward Island Health and Wellness Centre to streamline processes, policies, services and supports. Furthermore, this position involves overseeing the daily operations of the Student Affairs office, providing staff supervision and financial leadership, representing the LWS office on committees, offering program advice and support to students as required, conducting presentations, and other related duties.
The successful applicant will establish and nurture relationships with Memorial University (MUN) Faculty of Medicine Learner Wellbeing and Success administration and faculty leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing the operations of the LWS office, including financial, administrative and human resources
- Direct supervision of the team in the LWS office
- Providing leadership and strategic support to LWS office with minimal supervision
- Overseeing the implementation of Accreditation action plans to ensure that systems, policies, and processes are in place to meet Accreditation standards specific to the LWS office as set forth by applicable accreditation bodies
- Oversee and monitor the application of related policies and procedures
- Supervision of the Faculty of Medicine Financial Counselling and Student Wellness programs
- Supervision of the Faculty of Medicine Career Counselling (MedCareers) program support
- Supervision of the Faculty of Medicine student assistance services related to equity and professionalism
- Facilitation of orientation and student life services
- Collaboration with the Undergraduate Medical Education and Postgraduate Medical Education offices and the University of Prince Edward Island Health and Wellness Centre to streamline processes, policies, services and supports
- Representing the LWS office on required committees
- Providing program advice and support to students as required
- Ongoing research and compilation of data to inform various stakeholder groups within the Faculty of Medicine and across Canada
- Represent the Faculty of Medicine and Learner Wellbeing and Success Office at UPEI through the preparation and delivery of presentations at local, provincial and national levels
- Develop solutions to issues arising in the dynamic educational environment
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Graduate Degree in business, human resources, health administration or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of a bachelor's degree and a minimum of (3-5 years) of work experience in progressive leadership positions in an academic environment human resource, or health-related field
- A Masters degree would be an asset
- Experience in Academic Administration of a centralized program would be an asset
- Delivery of the LWS program requires a high degree of coordination with academic support units in the Faculty of Medicine. As a result, the incumbent must demonstrate successful negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills are required
- To excel in the position, it would be essential to possess excellent analytical and organizational skills, effective leadership and strategic thinking abilities, and a solid attention to detail
- The successful candidate will be thorough, collegial, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate commitment
