The Registrar's Office is currently seeking a results driven, qualified individual for the role of Assistant Manager, Scholarships Awards & Financial Aid. The successful
candidate will be responsible for the daily operations of the Scholarships, Awards & Financial Aid (SAFA) office.
Working within the Student Experience Hub and reporting to the Registrar, the Assistant Manager is responsible for office management and supervision of all aspects of scholarships and awards administration, and the supervision of full-time Scholarships, Awards & Financial Aid staff members. The SAFA Office administers funding and recognition opportunities that further student’s academic objectives and provides service and support to students seeking financial support through scholarships, awards, and financial aid.
Overseeing the various annual scholarship, award, and financial aid cycles that link students, faculty, staff, donors, parents, Government of Prince Edward Island partners and other external organizations, the Assistant Manager works collaboratively with stakeholders to improve and develop a quality assurance framework and sustainable processes for managing the growth of students and awards. Financial oversight is a key component of the framework, with the Scholarships and Awards Office disbursing over $10 million dollars in funding per fiscal year comprised of university, donor, and grant funding, as well as Government of Prince Edward Island bursary funding. Effective communication and a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality are essential for the incumbent to disseminate and articulate information and analyze best practices and business planning processes for implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, administer, and enhance all aspects of the annual award cycle processes for undergraduate and graduate scholarships, awards, bursaries, fellowships, prizes, financial aid, and other forms of recognition at the University
- Manage and maintain UPEI’s Student Information System (Colleague) Student module forms on awards and award correspondence, Financial Aid report suite, and the online Scholarship and Award Application portal
- Manage, supervise, and provide leadership for scholarships, awards, and financial aid coordinator positions
- Lead student support initiatives and ensure quality student service pertaining to scholarships, awards, and financial aid in service of recruitment and retention strategies
- Lead the development of standards and, in collaboration with team members and colleagues, develop strategies to identify and articulate effective business processes and support systems to improve the administration of scholarships, awards, bursaries, and other forms of financial aid
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and at least 3-5 years experience in a post-secondary setting
- Demonstrated leadership, independence and financial experience in budget management and government aid program administration
- Demonstrated understanding and application of ethical standards of integrity, fairness and confidentiality
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing equity, diversity and inclusion and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Culturally competent communication and cross-cultural understanding
- Experience in managing a team
- Experience managing a database system and online application portal
