Sessional Instructor- Department of Biology - Faculty of Science - Fall 2026

The Department of Biology at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a sessional instructor during the forthcoming Fall 2026 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person, unless otherwise specified as an online course.
BIO-4520 BIOGEOGRAPHY AND MACROECOLOGY
This course examines the patterns of distribution, species richness, and abundance of organisms in space and time with emphasis on animal communities, as well as the ecology of insular biotas. Historical, ecological, geographical, and anthropological factors affecting these patterns are examined.
PREREQUISITES: Biology 1310, 1320, and 2220. Students registered in the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation Program may take this course after completion of Biology 1310 and Biology 2220.
Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory a week
Note: The instructor will be responsible for teaching both the lecture and lab components of this class.
Lecture: M/W/F 10:30 – 11:20 AM
Lab: W 1:30 – 4:20 PM
Qualifications:
Successful applicants must hold an M.Sc, Ph.D., or other degree that qualifies them to teach the course. Documented experience teaching is preferred.
Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
