Acknowledging that UPEI is located on the unceded land of the Mi’kmaq Nation, of the Wabanaki Confederacy, in the traditional district of Epekwitk, the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island welcomes applications from exceptional candidates for the following clinical nursing instructor opportunity:

One (1) 0.8 FTE Permanent 10-month Position in the UPEI Faculty of Nursing Learning Resource Centre.

The anticipated start date for this position would be May 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will provide instruction and supervision to undergraduate nursing students in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) within the UPEI Faculty of Nursing. The successful candidate will be a member of the LRC teaching team and will contribute to the development and delivery of learning experiences that support students’ psychomotor skill development across all years of the BScN program. The successful candidate will also complete at least one rotation of clinical instruction per year, typically during the summer term.

This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island offers the only undergraduate and graduate programs for the nursing profession in the province. The Faculty of Nursing plays an important role in nursing education to support the local and national health system by developing nurse leaders grounded in the philosophy of Primary Health Care.

In addition to providing evidence-informed education, we strongly believe in providing opportunities for all faculty, staff, and students to participate in research and scholarships. Nursing education researchers study how students best learn nursing skills and investigate diverse topics such as health outcomes and improvements to the quality of healthcare services.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have earned a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN or BN) and have at least 3 years of full-time clinical experience. Recent experience teaching psychomotor skills to nursing students in a laboratory setting is required.

Experience in medical-surgical nursing would be an asset. Experience as a CNI leading a lab course would be an asset. Experience in providing clinical supervision of students (including preceptorships) or peer clinical education would be an asset. The Canadian Nurse Educators Institute (CNEI) Clinical Instructor Certificate course would be an asset. A master’s degree in nursing would be an asset. A valid driver’s license is required.

Hours:  Part-time – 30 hours per week (September to June); day and evening shifts.

Salary:  $49.59 to $54.11 per hour in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors and The University of Prince Edward Island Faculty Association Bargaining Unit #1.
