Counsellor - Counselling Services - Student Experience Hub
$84,284 to $93,445 per annum
July 30, 2026 – July 30, 2027 (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding, and departmental requirements)
The Office of Counselling Services at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) invites applications for a Personal/Academic Counsellor. This position reports directly to the Manager of Counselling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core responsibilities for the position will include:
- Provision of personal counselling and, possibly academic advising services to students
- Serving as a part of a liaison team between academic support leads in faculties and non-faculty support staff
- Provision of outreach services, including workshops, presentations, and information booths
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree at the Masters level, or greater, in Educational Counselling, or related discipline
- Specific expertise and experience in counselling students in post-secondary education is preferred
- Candidate must have, or be clearly eligible and willing to obtain, the Counselling Therapist title with the College of Counselling Therapists in PEI (CCTPEI); similar provincial licensure may be considered
- The ideal candidate will possess a background working with university students in educational development and planning
- Crisis response training and experience would be valuable to this position
- Skills in triage and effective referrals to community resources and managing consultation with medical and psychiatric resources are essential
- Experience and comfort working with a diverse student population reflecting the reality of today’s campus, including issues of culture, gender, orientation, and equity are required; lived experience in these areas would be an asset
