Reporting to Dr. Marissa Clapson, the Department of Chemistry is seeking a Student Laboratory Assistant. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development of undergraduate laboratory activities for Inorganic I (Chem 2720)
  • Perform proposed undergraduate experiments
  • Propose adjustments to the laboratory experiments where appropriate
  • Assist in the development and updating of laboratory manual, marking schemes and rubrics, and example laboratory reports
  • Assist in assuring alignment between laboratory and lecture content
  • Development of similar materials will be started for Inorganic II (Chem3740)
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of Inorganic I (Chem 2720) or equivalent. The laboratory component of the course must have been completed in-person
  • Successful completion of Inorganic II (Chem 3740) will be considered an asset.
  • Completed WHMIS and a thorough understanding of chemical safety with the ability to readily search and understand chemical SDS
  • Previous experience as a TA, lab coordinator, or educational assistant will be considered an asset
