Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq and Parks Canada Engagement Sessions
August 2022

Negotiations are underway for a proposed agreement that would see the Mi’kmaq people and Parks Canada work, as partners, to co-manage natural heritage places administered by Parks Canada on PEI. This agreement advances reconciliation in a real and concrete way by acknowledging the contributions of the Mi’kmaq, our history and culture, as well as the special long-standing relationship we have with traditional lands and waters. This partnership will lead to more opportunities for the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq including employment and training as well as shared tourism opportunities and resource management.

Join us at our summer engagement sessions to learn how the proposed agreement will work and what it will mean for the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq.

Visit the L'nuey PEI Facebook page for session dates and information.
