Cannabis use forms for research involving cannabis

Posting Date(s)

We are pleased to announce that UPEI has obtained an institutional cannabis research license from Health Canada to carry out university-approved cannabis research projects. Although cannabis has been legalized for personal possession and use in Canada, all UPEI research projects involving cannabis, CBD, or THC compounds, including synthetic variants, must be conducted under an approved UPEI cannabis research permit.

The corresponding "UPEI Cannabis Research Permit Application" form is housed under the biosafety module of the ROMEO Researcher Portal.  The purpose of this form and the related review process is to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and to maintain the highest standards of safety and responsibility. The permit is required before research involving cannabis can be conducted on campus, or cannabis obtained for this purpose. Please note that researchers must submit an application form for each proposed research project involving cannabis.

If you have any questions about the UPEI Cannabis Research Permit, please contact UPEI’s Office of Health, Safety and Environment (hse@upei.ca).
