Office of the Vice-President, People and Culture

The Office of the Vice-President, People and Culture provides direction and support to Human Resources and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Human Rights. EDI and Human Rights is a new department of the University that has responsibility for the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Sexual Violence Prevention and Response offices and administration of the Sexual Violence and Harassment and Discrimination policies and related complaints.

The position of Vice-President, People and Culture was created in June 2023 to focus attention and resources on the recommendations flowing from the University of Prince Edward Island Review. This new role will help to facilitate specific and strategic investments in our people, processes, and culture. This is the first step in developing a new organizational structure for the University.

Dr. Jane Ngobia

On May 1, 2025, Dr. Jane Ngobia began her new position as Vice-President, People and Culture (VPPC) at UPEI with a focus on inclusive leadership, organizational development, and community engagement. The VPPC role encompasses Human Resources (HR); Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Human Rights (EDIHR); and Legal Affairs.
