The University of Prince Edward Island’s President and Vice-Chancellor is the chief executive officer, responsible to the Board of Governors and to the Senate to lead UPEI’s academic mission and administrative operations. The President works with the senior executive team to provide leadership to the University. 

The University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors announced the appointment of Dr. Wendy Rodgers as UPEI’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor on May 6, 2024, marking the end of a 12-month presidential search process. Dr. Rodgers began her five-year term on June 1, 2024.

In a message to the campus community, President Wendy Rodgers and VP Administration and Finance Tim Walker announced that the UPEI Board of Governors approved a balanced operating budget at its May 27th meeting.

Dr. Wendy Rodgers announced in a community message that the UPEI Action Plan Progress Report for Year 0 and Year 1 is now available online. She also hosted an "Action Plan Update" Town Hall on May 28.

President Wendy Rodgers announced in a campus message that Mark Caduc will join UPEI as Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO), starting on June 5. He will replace—on an interim basis—Dana Sanderson who served as CIO from 2014 until he retired in April of this year.

The fourth in this series of President's town halls in the 2025 winter semester, Let's 'talk' SDGs, will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025. For this town hall, there will be a broad introduction to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along with a discussion on how they relate to UPEI and the work that we do.
