A team of four Charlottetown Rural High School students designed, built, and tested a solar-powered, eco-friendly buoy to collect oceanic data, working with technicians and instructors of UPEI's Applied Climate Change and Adaptation program.

Dr. Patrick Murphy has received a grant through the Canadian Cancer Society’s 2021 Atlantic Cancer Research (ACR) Grants competition for research into breast cancer.

A team led by Dr. William Montelpare, Margaret and Wallace McCain Chair in Human Development and Health at UPEI, has been awarded a $500,000 grant to develop and implement a vaccine support program for Prince Edward Island.

Olivier Philips, an MSc student with Dr. Patrick Murphy in UPEI’s Department of Biology, is the first UPEI recipient of a graduate scholarship of $29,750 through BHCRI’s Cancer Research Training Program (CRTP).

Dr. Kate Scarth is Chair of L.M. Montgomery Studies and Assistant Professor of Applied Communication, Leadership, and Culture (ACLC) at UPEI.

In the role as UNESCO Chair in Island Studies and Sustainability, Dr. Mitchell will take a broad perspective on small islands’ sustainability across the intersecting socio-economic, cultural, aesthetic, and environmental domains.

Dr. Josh MacFadyen is an associate professor in the Faculty of Arts, and the Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities.

PhD student Stephanie Arnold is helping farmers adapt to climate change by providing precision agriculture data from the air, thanks to the UPEI Climate Lab's fleet of drones.
