Companion Animals
The focus of the Department of Companion Animals is to provide high-quality education to undergraduate veterinary students at the Atlantic Veterinary College. Our faculty members work collaboratively to deliver the teaching program in all four years of the DVM curriculum in the disciplines of small animal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, radiology, cardiology, and community practice.
Faculty members also provide advanced training to graduate veterinarians through one-year internships (postgraduate certificate program) and three-year MSc/residency programs, and participate in the delivery of specialty clinical services within AVC’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Primary and collaborative research into diseases of companion animals is a key activity for many faculty members.
