The Institute of Island Studies’ first Island Lecture Series of 2025 will feature a screening of a short film titled N'AP Boule (Through the Barricades) on Tuesday, January 21, at 7:00 pm, in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, UPEI.

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for January 6–12, 2025, are Sarah Forsythe (women’s hockey) and Kyree Thompson (men’s basketball).

Calling all future veterinarians! Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camp).

The UPEI campus community is invited to participate in the “Access for All UPEI” event on January 13, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre, to raise awareness of and advocate for improved accessibility on campus for students.

 

| Athletics

Two UPEI Men’s Hockey student-athletes and head coach Forbes MacPherson are headed to the international stage. Panthers captain Kurtis Henry and assistant captain Kaleb Pearson have been selected to play with Team Canada’s hockey team at the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World Games in Italy this month. MacPherson will serve as an assistant coach—his second time coaching in the FISU World Games.

President Rodgers will kick off a series of President's Town Halls on January 15, 2025. The first topic is an update on the development of UPEI's strategic plan for 2025–2030. All UPEI community members are invited to attend.

The UPEI Panthers are looking forward to a week of competition at home and away to start the new year.

Dr. Wendy Rodgers updated the campus community on the search for a new Vice-President, People and Culture. The Advisory Selection Committee will host finalist candidate A on January 9 and finalist candidate B on January 16 for on-campus visits.
