UPEI Women’s Basketball draws the wildcard and are off to the nationals!

Panthers will compete at the U SPORTS Women’s Basketball Final 8 in Kingston, March 31–April 3

U SPORTS announced the seeding on Sunday for the 2022 U SPORTS Women's Basketball Final 8 national championship, which runs from Thursday to Sunday at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.

The UPEI Panthers were awarded the only “at-large” (wildcard) entry into the tournament by a committee of U SPORTS coaches. The Panthers, who finished in first place during AUS conference regular-season play at 11-2, posted a 16-3 record against U SPORTS opposition this year. They were ranked in the Top 6 for nine of 10 weeks this season, rising to as high as No. 1 on November 23.

All 11 games from the eight-team competition will be webcast live, up to and including the gold medal game on Sunday at 6 pm Eastern. The full webcast and broadcast schedule will be available throughout the tournament at usports.ca/en/broadcast.
