Protect yourself and others—stay home if you are sick

The following message was distributed by email to students, staff, and faculty on December 2, 2022.

Dear Members of the University Community,

The PEI Chief Public Health Office recently ended the mandatory isolation requirement for COVID-19.

To protect your colleagues from the various respiratory illnesses circulating in our communities, UPEI students, staff and faculty are asked to continue to stay home when sick and while potentially a source of infection for others on campus. The greatest risk of infection is the first five days; however, mask wearing in public settings for an additional five days should continue to reduce risk of transmission.

University community members are encouraged to receive available vaccines for both influenza and COVID-19, and to practice good disease-prevention hygiene, such as mask wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing, when possible. Also, wearing masks in instructional spaces continues to be mandatory until further notice.
