Community engagement event in Georgetown on October 18 about net zero project
Residents of Georgetown, PEI, and other stakeholders are invited to participate in a community engagement event about the Georgetown net zero project on Wednesday, October 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Georgetown Elementary School.
The event is hosted by the UPEI Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering—Future Urban Energy Lab for Sustainability (FUEL-S), the Government of Prince Edward Island, and the UPEI Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation.
Announced on October 6, 2023, the Georgetown net zero assessment project is a first step towards an ambitious initiative aimed at becoming the first net-zero community in Prince Edward Island. It involves a series of strategies and measures to evaluate energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, and promote the use of renewable energy sources going forward. This project aligns with the province’s commitment to environmental stewardship and has the potential to improve quality of life, enhance the local economy, and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
