OCII Open House
Please join the Office of Commercialization, Industry, and Innovation (OCII) on October 25, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, at the Research Services Office in Room 112 of Kelley Memorial Building.
OCII offers knowledge and expertise on research collaborations to UPEI faculty, students, and staff. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet with our team and engage in conversations about how we can support and enhance the success of your research programs.
KAIROS Mass Blanket Exercise, presented by the Native Council of PEI
The Native Council of PEI proudly presents the KAIROS Mass Blanket Exercise—the Indigenous Rights history we’ve never been taught—on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30, 2023. The event will begin at 1:00 pm in the UPEI quadrangle (rain location: McMillan Hall at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre).
After the Blanket Exercise, a feast will take place in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre concourse. Attendance is open to the public—attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets.
2023 Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament takes place September 29 to October 1
The UPEI men’s and women’s basketball teams are ready to roll at the annual Mickey Place Memorial Basketball Tournament! The tournament features nine teams from across Canada and runs Friday, September 29, through Sunday, October 1.
The women’s pool includes Acadia University, University of Saskatchewan, University of Waterloo, and UPEI. The men’s pool includes Dalhousie University, York University, Saint Mary’s University, Holland College, and UPEI.
Stefania Angona and Isaac Wolters named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for September 18–24 are Stefania Angona (women’s cross country) and Isaac Wolters (men’s soccer).
Cross country team member Stefanie Agona is a second-year science student from Brampton, Ontario. She finished in ninth place at the Acadia University Invitational in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, September 23, with a time of 32:58.
UPEI faculty member receives 2023 AAU educational leadership award
Dr. Stacey MacKinnon, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island, was presented with the Association of Atlantic Universities’ (AAU) 2023 Anne Marie MacKinnon Educational Leadership Award at the AAU’s fall meeting on September 20.
Japanese Film Festival and JET information sessions
UPEI is hosting a free Japanese Film Festival, presented by the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal and the Japan Foundation, in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242, on Friday, September 29, from 5:30 to 10:30 pm.
