Straight Arrow Award Gathering

Straight Arrow was originally created in 1948 and is the first Indigenous superhero to lead a comic book series (55 issues) with ally, Packy McCloud. Straight Arrow and the team named after him, “The Straight Arrows”, received the 2021 PEI Island Literacy Award for (The Chosen: Straight Arrow—Ann without an “E”) featuring the daughter of Straight Arrow. 

Now in its third year, the awards continue to celebrate Indigenous and Ally leaders for National Truth and Reconciliation Day every September 30.

Carla Stewart and Kasper Lasia named UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week

Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. UPEI Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for September 4-10 are Carla Stewart (women’s rugby) and Kasper Lasia (men’s soccer).

UPEI women’s rugby player and third-year nursing student, Carla Stewart from Crapaud, PEI scored two tries in the home opener win against the Acadia University Axewomen.

UPEI’s Mawi’omi Centre hosting series of events in recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day

The Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre at UPEI is hosting a series of events leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which is September 30, 2023.

“All of these events are put together to encourage relationship-building as a means of unveiling truth and walking toward reconciliation,” said Jasmine Pauzé, Mawi'omi Centre Coordinator. “When we understand and strengthen our relations, we better understand our own identity and our role in influencing change."

Time to Write Retreat, October 10 to 13 

Time to Write retreats offer concentrated time to support your writing efforts and can be instrumental in the initiation or completion of scholarly work such as an article, book or book chapter, grant proposal, curriculum or OER development, conference presentations, or other scholarly, creative projects. Time to work on writing projects away from home and campus for a few days can be incredibly productive.

Moodle honour agreements workshop

When conducting assessments, clear communication of expectations can help your students perform their work with a clear understanding of what academic integrity means in your course. This session will cover some approaches for setting up clear and concise honour agreements and building the requirements into your Moodle assessments. The session will take place in the Teaching and Learning Centre (located in the Robertson Library Annex) on September 19 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
