The Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island will hold its 24th annual Open House on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Organized and run by AVC students, this event is free to the public and offers a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at a veterinary medical school. Visitors will see many demonstrations and exhibits, including a parade of dog breeds, some unusual animals at a mini-zoo, a painted cow and horse, and much more. Children can bring their favourite stuffed toys for a check-up and treatment at the Teddy Bear Clinic. And they can have their faces painted, learn how to gown and glove for surgery, participate in their own Stick Horse Rodeo, and reel in some cool prizes at the fish pond. Join the UPEI community on Friday, September 28 for the 13th annual Recognition of Founders in the UPEI Quad with a reception following in McMillan Hall. Recognition of Founders is a day dedicated to honouring UPEI`s rich heritage and traditions by acknowledging people who have contributed to it in an exceptional way. AVC's Green Hat award, honouring those who have made a significant and positive impact on the Atlantic Veterinary College will be presented as an important component of Recognition of Founders.

Badminton is a racquet sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. Players score points by striking a birdie with their racquet so that it passes over the net and lands in their opponents’ half of the court. Badminton is exciting to watch at a high level as it can be very fast paced. It is also fun for beginners and is an excellent workout.
