What brought you to UPEI? Why did you choose to study here?
I’m from Souris, Prince Edward Island, and I came to UPEI specifically for the Paramedicine degree program. After working as a paramedic for over 15 years, I reached a point where I wanted to explore new roles in the profession—roles beyond traditional ambulance work. I was interested in leadership, management, and corporate opportunities within paramedicine, but I knew I needed a strong academic foundation to move in that direction.

Calvin Murray has been interested in the health-care profession since he was a child growing up in Elmsdale, PEI. He graduated from UPEI with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2021 and has worked as a registered nurse at the Western Hospital in Alberton ever since.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 15 UPEI student teams presented their business concepts to a live audience, competing for a share of $75,000 in prize money at the annual MacLauchlan Panther Pitch Competition.
