Jazz Ensemble Concert

The UPEI Jazz Ensemble will present their spring concert on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30 pm at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI. Under the direction of David Shephard the band will once again be joined by singers from the UPEI vocal studio. Featured vocalists will be Olivia Barnes, Alexandra Smith, Leah Inman, Travis Boudreau, Jillian Clow and Parker Clements. Band members who will be featured as soloists are trombonist Dan MacDonald on Someone to Watch Over Me and saxophonist Emily Proude will be the soloist on the jazz standard Lover Man. Other tunes will include When You’re Smilin’, Mack the Knife, Send in the Clowns, Somewhere from West Side Story and hits from the 1970’s Knock on Wood and Send in the Clowns. Senior Recital

UPEI vocal major and Islander Olivia Barnes will take to the stage for her Senior Recital, on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 pm, at the Dr. Steel Recital Hall, with piano accompaniment by Frances McBurnie. Graduating in May, Olivia is in the final semester of her fourth year and studies with Professor Sung Ha Shin-Bouey. Olivia will present an eclectic mix of music including Schumann, Bernstein, Poulenc, Bach, Gluck and Novello. Admission is free and a reception will be held following the performance.

UPEI Wind Symphony Finale

The UPEI Wind Symphony will perform its final recital of the academic year on Thursday, April 2, at 7:30 pm at UPEI’s Dr. Steel Recital Hall. This recital will be the final Wind Symphony performance for nine of its graduating students – Aaron Ellis and Michael Gallant, percussionists; Robyn Verhoeven, trumpet; Emily Emberton and Jessica MacFarlane, flautists; Laura MacLeod, trumpet; Lucas MacPhail, saxophone; Leah Inman, piano; and, Kailey Norris, clarinet. All nine, most of whom are principals, have made significant contributions to UPEI, and the Wind Symphony in particular, throughout their undergraduate careers. Tickets [$10 Adults; $5 Students] for this performance may be acquired in advance at UPEI’s music department or at the door prior to the recital. The public is invited to attend.

Senior Class Awards Ceremony

The Senior Class Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8 at 12:00 noon–1:15 pm in McMillan Hall, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The awards ceremony acknowledges the academic, leadership, and spirit achievements of our graduating students. This ceremony is attended by senior administration, Deans, and faculty to celebrate graduating student success. All recipients are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony. A light lunch is provided, kindly sponsored by the UPEI Faculty Association.

Morning Convocation Ceremony

UPEI will celebrate the academic achievements of the graduating class at Convocation 2015. The morning convocation ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 am in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The afternoon ceremony is at 2:30 pm. Due to safety regulations, seating is limited. GUESTS MUST PRESENT THEIR INVITATION in order to be admitted to the Sports Centre. Each graduate can obtain up to 5 guest invitations at the Office of the Registrar from Monday, May 4 - Friday, May 8, 8:30 am-4:00 pm. No extra invitations are being issued.
