Dear members of the campus community, On behalf of the University of Prince Edward Island, I would like to inform the campus community that Dr. Juergen Krause, Associate Professor in the School of Business and Director of the Centre for Health and Biotech Management Research, has been appointed interim Dean of Business, effective immediately. Juergen Krause earned his master's degree in chemistry and his PhD degree in biochemistry from the University of Konstanz, Germany and completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Chicago. Before moving into education, he spent 22 years in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry, successfully championing and leading global company initiatives, a number of industry/university collaborations, and alliances with other industry partners. Dr. Krause joined the faculty of the UPEI School of Business in July 2008 as an associate professor, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and conducting research in the field of health and biotech management. We delayed the start of some of our Panther Fitness programs to allow you some time to sign up and get ready for summer on the beach. Really, warm weather will arrive sometime soon... Programs you can register for that are starting next week include: kettlebells (Wednesdays Noon–12:45 pm), strength n' cardio circuit (Wednesdays 6:30–7:15 am and Thursdays 5:00–5:45 pm) pilates (Thursdays Noon–12:45 pm), running speed and strength training (Thursdays 5:30–6:15 pm). Other programs starting the week after include yoga (Fridays 6:30–7:15 am), bootcamp (Mondays/Wednesdays 5:00–5:45 pm, and Thursdays 6:30–7:15 am), runners speed work training (Tuesdays 6:30–7:15 am), TRX suspension training (Tuesdays at 12:45 pm). Training is required to carry out these responsibilities: By ground: A person who handles (see definition below), offers for transport, or transports dangerous goods must; (a) be adequately trained and hold a training certificate; or (b) perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with the regs. Handling - is defined as: loading, unloading, or packing dangerous goods for the purposes of, in the course of, or following transportation. Note: it has been clarified that you do not need to have training to unpack a dangerous good that has already been received by Shipping & Receiving. WHMIS training covers this aspect. By air:(IATA regulations): No person may offer or accept dangerous goods for air transport unless those goods are properly classified, documented, certified, packaged, marked, labeled, and in the condition for shipment required by the IATA regulations. Training is required to carry out these responsibilities. The following session are being held from 9:00am–4:30pm at UPEI: IATA Air Infectious and Biological Goods Training—May 22 IATA Air Regular Refresher Training—May 23 TDG Ground Refresher Training—May 24 If you do require any of these fields of training or have questions about your potential TDG training, please contact Rylie Cole (rcole@upei.ca).

As we are about to move to a new Moodle in September, our multistage rollout begins! Our first stage is offering two 5-week summer sessions in what's new and better about the new Moodle! These
