With the recent release of the Rubin Thomlinson report, the University has coordinated two new confidential processes to support faculty and staff who have experienced harm from harassment, sexual violence, or discrimination at UPEI.

Confidential personal counselling

The UPEI Health and Wellness Centre has engaged a psychologist, who is bilingual (English and French), to meet individually with faculty and staff Tuesday and Wednesday mornings throughout the summer.

Employees may email Caylin Jenkins at cbjenkins@upei.ca, indicating “Appointment required” in the subject line. Caylin will coordinate their appointment with the psychologist and confirm the location of the appointment.

Making a confidential disclosure

People have asked about the process for making disclosures of incidents of harassment or discrimination by senior executive members of the University. The University has established an independent third-party process to address any such issues with Resonance Inc., a multidisciplinary human resources firm, based in Saint John, NB, that specializes in workplace assessments. The contact person at Resonance is Trisha Perry, who may be reached at tperry@resonanceinc.ca or (506)799-0412.

ITSS will be migrating Main Building (SDMB) to our new network on Saturday, July 29. We expect minimal disruption to staff and faculty during this time.

Please note that this migration will not affect WiFi.

Thank you,

The ITSS Team

Author Gary MacDougall will interview Don, the subject of his 2022 Biography "Don McDougall—Business: Get it done, have some fun," about his positive memories of being a student at Saint Dunstan’s University, his interesting times leading various private sector businesses, his role in bringing in the Toronto Blue Jays to Canada, his current business interests in PEI, and other interesting anecdotes. Don was inducted in the Order of Canada on June 30.

In a lighthearted question-and-answer session, Gary will discuss why he wrote the book, and Don will discuss what he hopes people will take away from it.

About Don McDougall: Don is a graduate of Saint Dunstan’s University, a donor to UPEI, a former educator, a former chancellor of UPEI, a philanthropist, and believer in youth, communities, and abundant opportunities for the future.
