Chapman Brothers Construction Ltd. has been awarded the tender for numerous paving projects on campus this summer. The project consists of a total rebuild of Parking Lot B, designated and general, Parking Lot F, the Perimeter Road between Blanchard Hall and Bernardine Hall and the Perimeter Road starting on the south side of the University Avenue entrance to the entrance of McDougall Hall Reserved Parking Lot.
The contractor is scheduled to begin In Parking Lot B on Monday, July 10, 2017. This work is expected to take approximately 3 weeks to complete. All Parking Lot B designated and general lot permit holders will be required to use Parking Lot A, D or E during this time.
The Perimeter Road between Blanchard Hall and Bernardine Hall is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 14, 2017 and is expected to take approximately 2 weeks to complete, one way traffic will be in place for this section during construction.
Parking Lot F is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 31, 2017 and is expected to take approximately 2 weeks to complete. All permit holders for Parking Lot F will be required to park in Parking Lot A, D or E during this time
The Perimeter Road between the University Avenue entrance and McDougall Hall Reserved Parking Lot entrance is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 31, 2017 and is expected to take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Reserved permit holders for McDougall Hall Reserved Parking Lot will be given access to park in designated Parking Lot B during this time.
This schedule is weather dependent and could change; we will keep you updated if changes are required.
While the contractor has been instructed that the work should be executed with the least possible disruption to the campus community, a certain amount is inevitable. Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we proceed with this project.

It is with great sadness that UPEI announces that Robert “Rocky” Paquet, a long-time employee with Facilities Management, passed away on Sunday, July 2 in Halifax. The University extends condolences to Rocky’s family, friends, and colleagues and asks that you keep them in your thoughts.
Flags have been lowered to half-mast in his memory. Another message will be issued once funeral arrangements are confirmed.

The Department of Physics is taking advantage of the sunny summer days to view the Sun with our solar telescope and we invite you to join us. The first viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, 12:00-1:00pm on the School of Sustainable Design Engineering's green roof. The viewing is weather-dependent; if it's too cloudy to see the Sun, we won't be able to view it. More information and updates on the event status can be found here.

The AARMS 2017 summer school is intended for graduate students and promising undergraduate students from all parts of the world. Each participant is expected to register for at least two of the three courses. Each course consists of three hours lecture sessions per day for two weeks. These are graduate courses approved by University of Prince Edward Island and we will facilitate transfer credit to the extent possible.
This year's theme is Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences and the summer school will take place July 3 – 28, 2017 at the University of Prince Edward Island.

IT Systems and Services (ITSS) has launched new web pages to create a more interactive and user-friendly environment with simplified content and easier access to the services offered by our department. As well, there is a new info site in the myUPEI Portal.
