You're invited to submit stories, announcements, or departmental updates to UPEI's newsletter, the Campus Connector. The submission deadline for the next edition is Monday, June 23 by 5:00 pm. Submissions must follow these guidelines:

-sent in a Microsoft Word or plain text document
-be no longer than 250 words
-maximum one photo per story

1) Karen Wight, CPA, CA, will present on "The Business of Sustainable Food Production in Canada through Aquaponics" on Thursday, June 12 at 9:30 am in McDougall Hall, Room 243.
2) Brad Colwill, CPA, CA, will present on "The Unification of the Canadian Accounting Profession & its Implication on Course Delivery at UPEI" on Thursday, June 12 at 2:00 pm in McDougall Hall, Room 243.
Everyone welcome to attend.
The next deadline for submitting Biosafety Protocols including new applications, renewals and/or amendments, is Friday June 27. These protocols will be reviewed at the July meeting. Please ensure that you download and use the current forms from http://research.upei.ca/forms. Use Adobe Reader to complete the forms.
Submit one copy of the original protocol with signatures to 200 Kelley Memorial Building and send one e-copy to reb@upei.ca

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer university students across Canada the opportunity to win a $2,000 bursary. Students will want to familiarize themselves with the Partnership for Research Trade (PRT) and produce a brief video on the merits of supporting its objectives. The videos must be creative, original, and fun, no more than 3 to 5 minutes long. It should address one or more of the three objectives and promote support of the PRT. Participants are to email their videos to prt@chamber.ca where a Project Coordinator will post the video onto the YouTube channel. In addition to the $2,000 bursary, the winning video will be featured in the PRT communications campaign.
The goal of this contest is not only to create more awareness among youth on the importance of Canada’s natural resource sectors, but also to further interest and engage our younger generation in one of Canada’s key policy and economic issue.
In order to be eligible for the bursary, contestants must be full-time registered students of a Canadian University. In addition, students must "like" the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) on Facebook, follow CCC on Twitter, and subscribe to the CCC’s YouTube channel. Finally, students must sign themselves and five friends as supporters of the PRT at: http://powerofcanada.ca/speak-up/?ccc=1

Topics to be covered include basic biosafety principles and how they are applied at the University of Prince Edward Island, as well as biosecurity training.
Please note: only those who attended a training session after November, 2012 are currently considered to be “up to date” in their training requirements.

UPEI alumna and York University doctoral candidate Heather Barnick will give a public presentation of her fieldwork on Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games in Shanghai, "Digital Designs: Cultural Identity and China's Online Role Playing Game Industry," on Monday June 9 at 3:00 pm in Dalton Hall, Room 409. The presentation is sponsored by the Young Lives Research Lab and the Department of Sociology & Anthropology.
