Large numbers attend UPEI's New Year's Day Levee
Once again this year, UPEI and the UPEI Alumni Association hosted a successful New Year's Day Levee with UPEI interim President and Vice-Chancellor Greg Keefe greeting over 400 levee-goers. Joining President Keefe in the receiving line to wish attendees warm greetings for 2024 were the Hon. Diane Griffin, Chancellor Elect; Sjors Reijers, Vice-President, UPEI Alumni Association; Camille Mady, President, UPEI Student Union; and Debbie Keefe.
UPEI Panthers this Week (January 1–7, 2024)
The UPEI Panthers are looking forward to Minor Sports Weekend from January 5–7 when youth (ages 17 and under) wearing a jersey will be admitted free to any UPEI home game.

6:00 pm: The UPEI Women’s Basketball Panthers (5-4) host the University of New Brunswick Reds (7-1) at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre. The Panthers lost the first two games in this matchup.

Donations to UPEI Annual Fund campaign accepted until end of December
The UPEI Department of Development and Alumni Engagement asks people to consider supporting and inspiring students by contributing to the 2023–2024 UPEI Annual Fund by the end of this year. All gifts made before midnight on December 31 will receive a 2023 charitable tax receipt. The University of Prince Edward Island thanks all those who have already given this year.
UPEI Board of Governors announces new members
The University of Prince Edward Island Board of Governors welcomes three new members for a three-year term: Kristi Kelly; Donald K. MacKenzie; and Dr. Ajay Sahajpal. These appointments were selected using a skills matrix after a public call for expressions of interest took place this fall. With the five members announced by the Government of Prince Edward Island in October, these members now fill the remaining vacancies for 2023–2024.

As we approach the holiday break, I am reminded of the incredible privilege I have to live in a place of peace and relative prosperity. I acknowledge that we certainly do not all share equally in that privilege. There are many among us who have housing and food insecurity, or who are dealing with other challenges.
UPEI adds seven new EDI, sexual violence prevention and response, and student support positions
The University of Prince Edward Island has created seven new positions in the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Office, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO), and Student Affairs. The seven positions are being funded by a combination of internal resources and new support from the Government of Prince Edward Island.
