Every week, UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for January 2–7, 2024, are Sarah Forsythe (women’s hockey) and Kamari Scott (men’s basketball).
UPEI names new Director of Human Resources
The University of Prince Edward Island is glad to share the news that Kelly Drummond has been appointed the new Director of Human Resources for the University, effective February 5, 2024. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and long-term management approach for human resources at UPEI.
Island Lecture Series presentation explores coastal and ribbon development on PEI

Dr. Yuqin Gong, manager of institutional research at UPEI, won the Canadian Institutional Research and Planning Association’s (CIRPA) 2023 Outstanding Service Award on Oct 23, 2023, during the annual CIRPA conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Faculty Recital featuring Magdalena von Eccher, piano
On Saturday, January 13, at 7:30 pm, the UPEI Department of Music will present a Faculty Recital featuring Magdalena von Eccher on the SDU Stage, Dr. Steel Recital Hall, at UPEI.
This solo piano recital will feature a diverse program of works ranging from W. A. Mozart to Kelly-Marie Murphy, centering around a group of works by Clara and Robert Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn and her brother Felix, and Johannes Brahms. Steeped in lyricism and poetry, the recital will be a vivid portrayal of Magdalena's broad range of musical interests.

The University of Prince Edward Island has recently joined the Academics Without Borders (AWB) Network, and Dr. Ann Braithwaite, professor of Diversity and Social Justice Studies at UPEI, has been elected to the AWB board of directors.
