Update from the Chair of the Presidential Search Committee

Dear Members of the University Community,
The Presidential Search Committee (PSC) met on November 14 and on November 27 and will meet again on December 12. Our current work is primarily focused on evaluating the long list of candidates.
Two UPEI projects receive funding from Government of PEI’s Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Enhancement Program
Twenty-seven community organizations received a total of $657,453 through the Government of Prince Edward Island’s Gender, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (GEDI), and Community Enhancement Program to support healthier, more inclusive, diverse communities across PEI. Two of those recipients were the UPEI Experiential Education Department and the UPEI Mawi’omi Indigenous Student Centre.

UPEI Alumni and Friends are heading to watch the Calgary Flames!
UPEI Alumni and Friends in Calgary are invited to join us at the Scotiabank Saddledome on March 14, 2024, when the Calgary Flames host the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. Help us cheer on UPEI Hockey Panther great Joel Ward (BA, 2006) who is currently an assistant coach with the Golden Knights! Guests will receive complimentary Panthers gear so we can display some Panther Pride together!
UPEI to host annual New Year’s Levee
The University of Prince Edward Island and the UPEI Alumni Association are hosting their annual New Year's Levee on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 11:30 am–1:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend.
The levee will be held in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering Building, University of Prince Edward Island, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown.

Atlantic Veterinary College clears Santa’s reindeer to fly
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) performed its annual examination of Santa’s reindeer and declared all nine of them healthy and ready for the Christmas Eve journey around the world.
“Each year, our team is honoured to be part of this tradition to do a pre-trip veterinary exam,” said Dr. John VanLeeuwen, AVC Interim Dean. “The flight on Christmas Eve is about 67 million kilometres long, so we have to do a thorough examination to ensure the reindeer are fit for such a long and important trek.”
UPEI kinesiology students seek clients for in-person personal training
Students taking the Kinesiology 3440-Active Living Practicum course at UPEI are seeking volunteers to participate in personal training sessions.
The sessions start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the UPEI Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre, at either 9:30 or 10:30 am. Participants must be between 30 and 70 years of age. They will meet with their student trainers twice a week for 10 weeks.
