UPEI celebrates 12th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing
UPEI celebrated the 12th annual MacLauchlan Prizes for Effective Writing on Friday, November 17. The awards were presented to recipients, acknowledging their effective writing skills, which are the foundation of academic success and lifelong learning.
The awards, presented to 36 students and one faculty member this year, were established in 2011 by the MacLauchlan family to honour H. Wade MacLauchlan's contributions to the University and his 12 years of service as UPEI president and vice-chancellor from 1999–2011.
Devon Lawlor and Kamari Scott named UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
UPEI Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports over the previous week. The UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for November 14–20 are Devon Lawlor (women’s basketball) and Kamari Scott (men’s basketball).

UPEI Jazz and Popular Music Ensemble presents "Tell Me Something Good"
The UPEI Jazz and Popular Music Ensemble is looking forward to sharing an exciting program of music on Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 pm. This 26-member ensemble is a hybrid of a jazz big band, including several vocalists, with a mixture of jazz, soul, funk, pop, and everything in between.
UPEI Wind Symphony presents "Flashes and Apparitions"
On November 30 at 7:30 pm, the UPEI Wind Symphony will have its inaugural performance in the new Performing Arts Centre at the UPEI Campus.
The performance, entitled “Flashes and Apparitions”, will be led by conductors Nicole Strum and Dale Sorensen. The performance will feature works by Pulitzer Prize winner Augusta Read Thomas, Irish composer Amanda Feery, Juno award-winning Canadian composer Jordan Nobles, and the Atlantic Canadian premiere of Nerve and Verve by PEI’s own Evan Hammell.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), hosted its second Indigenous Day in Veterinary Medicine on Saturday, November 18.
2024 FSDE Engineering Competition
The Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering is hosting a qualifier competition for our engineering students on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The whole-day competition also features two categories for PEI high school students and is open to the public from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Guided tours of the building are available from our student ambassadors.
