The horrific news reports concerning the violence in Israel and Palestine, the intensifying situation in Ukraine, and the earthquakes in Afghanistan are deeply troubling. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities that are impacted.
UPEI Canada Research Chair in Veterinary Social Epidemiology awarded SSHRC Insight Grant
Dr. Caroline Ritter, Canada Research Chair in Veterinary Social Epidemiology at UPEI, has been awarded a SSHRC Insight Grant totalling $212,060 for a project titled “An application of cognitive dissonance theory to decisions affecting animal welfare.”
Truth and Reconciliation events on the UPEI campus
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, originally and still colloquially known as Orange Shirt Day, is a statutory holiday to recognize the legacy of the Canadian Indian residential school system.

UPEI celebrates 2023 Homecoming Week from September 18 to 24
September 18 to 24 is UPEI Homecoming Week, featuring an exciting line-up of activities and events!
From Monday to Wednesday, the week features several events for UPEI students hosted by the UPEI Student Union in collaboration with the UPEI SVPRO as part of Consent Awareness Week, including a workshop about consent, a bath bomb DIY wellness event, a sex education session, and a pizza party.

Native Council of PEI recognizes UPEI for its ongoing commitment to Reconciliation
A special ceremony and presentation was hosted by the Native Council of PEI (NCPEI) to recognize the University of Prince Edward Island for its commitment and outstanding contributions to the ongoing work toward reconciliation with Indigenous communities. The event took place on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10:00 am in Schurman Market Square at Don and Marion McDougall Hall.
