Island Lecture Series October Lecture: UPEI takes part in Faroe Islands International Community Energy Challenge
The Island Lecture Series gets under way once again on Tuesday, October 22, at 7 p.m. in the SDU Main Building Faculty Lounge on the UPEI campus. This lecture features a presentation by UPEI students and their professor about an experiential learning opportunity that took them to the Faroe Islands in May.
Panthers for Change unites new students, community members, and good causes
New UPEI students will be in close contact with the Charlottetown community on Saturday, September 14, as UPEI New Student Orientation (NSO) holds its annual Panthers for Change event.
The fundraiser usually happens after the first week of class, but the event was pushed out one week due to Hurricane Dorian bearing down on the province.
NSO coordinator Erin MacNeill said Panthers for Change is a special opportunity for incoming UPEI students to get to know the causes that matter to PEI while connecting with the community.
Panthers at Home, September 13
This weekend the UPEI Turf Field sees its first regular season action of the 2019–2020 season, and UPEI Men’s Hockey plays an exhibition game at home. Here’s your Panthers at Home Schedule for the weekend of September 13.
On Friday, both the women’s and men’s soccer teams host their home-openers against Acadia University. The women start the evening with a 5:00 pm game. Coach Glen Miller said the team has its work cut out for it after dropping a pair of games on the road last weekend.

PhD Thesis Defense - Ashok Somalraju
Members of the campus community are invited to join Ashok Somalraju for the presentation of a PhD Thesis Defense on "Potato Germplasm Development through EMS- Mutagenesis and Crop Bio-Fortification for Enhanced Plant Defense and Nutritional Quality."

UPEI Concert Choir performs The Messiah
The UPEI Concert Choir, under the direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, will perform George Frideric Handel’s The Messiah-Part I (plus the Hallelujah Chorus) in collaboration with the Atlantic String Machine and UPEI voice majors as soloists. Other ensembles sharing the stage will be the UPEI Chamber Singers, Le Ragazze Girls Vocal Ensemble, and the Ragazzi Jrs Singers in collaboration with pianist Leo Marchildon.
