The monthly meeting of the UPEI & Friends Neuroscience Journal Club will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in the "fishbowl" of the Regis and Joan Duffy Research Centre (NRC). “Getting a Nice Glow on at Research on Tap: Luminescent Sensors and the Fluorescence of Everyday Things.” Research on Tap returns Thursday, February 8, at 6:30 pm, in The Wave, the UPEI campus pub in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre. Dr. Brian Wagner, professor of chemistry, will lead a discussion on luminescent sensors and the fluorescence of everyday things. Dorothy E. Smith is widely acknowledged as a major feminist thinker of our time, and perhaps best known for her development of Institutional Ethnography, a theory/methodology of discovery aimed at providing a sociology for, not of, people. Smith’s lecture will focus on the interface between her development of a critical sociology aimed at exploring and explicating governance in contemporary society and its roots in feminism.
