Public Lecture: The History of Humanitarianism
The PEI History of Medicine Society is pleased to welcome Dr. Adam Rostis, Saint Mary's University, our first exchange with the Dalhousie History of Medicine Society, funded by the Robert Pope Foundation for The History of Humanitarianism: the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.
His timely talk will look at the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, both formed in the aftermath of war, but in different eras and contexts. Given the changing nature of conflict and the ever-increasing humanitarian cost of war, what can we learn from the formation stories of these iconic organizations that may shed light on how humanitarianism might look in the future? All are welcome.
