We are excited to announce that, in the fall, we will have two fun activities for current and new incoming students--the Language Exchange Program and the Buddy Program. We are also planning to organize Global Village, an event where you could show your talents and exchange your home cultures with other students.

Haven’t heard back from IRCC? Don’t panic! We will have a session for undergraduate students who are still waiting for approval from IRCC. In this session, our admission team will join us, and we will walk you through some current IRCC policies in terms of PAL, study permit processing time, deferral, etc. Come and join us over Zoom on August 6, 2024, at 10:00 am (PEI time). Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy
Dr. Jessica Riddell, professor of literature at Bishop’s University, will give the second Shannon K. Murray Lecture on Hope and the Academy. Her presentation is titled "The Times are Urgent: We must Slow Down. Building Hope Circuits for ourselves and in community."
UPEI Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation hosts new exhibition
The UPEI Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation (CCCCA), in St. Peter’s Bay, PEI, is hosting an exhibition titled “Mowing the Lawn” by Climate Artist-in-Residence Carrie Allison.
UPEI hosts SHAD participants in July
Sixty-four students, aged 16 to 17, from across Canada spent the month of July at UPEI, participating in a wide variety of STEAM and entrepreneurship sessions through the 2024 SHAD program.
August 1 is Emancipation Day in PEI and Canada
Canadians are not always aware that Black and Indigenous Peoples were once enslaved on the land that is now Canada. Those who fought enslavement were pivotal in shaping our society to be as diverse as it is today.
Emancipation Day
On August 1, Canadians are invited to observe Emancipation Day, which celebrates and honours the strength and perseverance of Black communities in Canada. It marks the actual day in 1834 that the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into effect across the British Empire. In 2021, the House of Commons voted unanimously to officially designate August 1 as Emancipation Day in Canada.
Chancellor Emerita creates fund at UPEI to support women studying business
The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, OC, OPEI, LLD, Chancellor Emerita, businesswoman and former member of the Senate of Canada, Premier of Prince Edward Island, Member of Parliament, and Member of the Legislature, has created an endowment to support women studying in the McDougall Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island.
