Former UPEI Women’s Rugby star named to Canada’s Women’s Sevens Olympic Team
The University of Prince Edward Island congratulates alumna Alysha Corrigan, a former UPEI Women’s Rugby student-athlete, who has been named to Team Canada’s Women’s Rugby Sevens team that will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The 27-year-old Charlottetown native is the only player east of Ontario to be named to the Olympic team.

Dear UPEI Community,
I want to thank everyone who attended our Town Halls—in person and virtually—on July 3 and 4. We had a great turnout of around 270 people in total, all asking interesting questions. I also want to thank the senior executive team, Greg Naterer, Sue Connolly, Tara Judson, and Dana Sanderson, for also attending and providing their thoughts and insights.
Full moon ceremony
The UPEI Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies will host a full moon ceremony on Monday, July 22, in the tipi near Kelley Memorial Building. The sacred fire will be lit at 6:30 pm, and the ceremony, led by Elder Thirely Levi, will begin at 7:00 pm.
UPEI students study abroad in New Zealand through Maymester initiative
Ten UPEI students learned about the distinctions and commonalities among Indigenous peoples worldwide by comparing their language and knowledge with that of the Māori people during the Maymester course, “Global Indigenous Language and Cultural Ways of Knowing,” which took place at UPEI and in New Zealand from May 6 to June 13.

Let's Talk About Renting - Information Session with Renting PEI

The International Student Office is hosting an online information session in collaboration with Renting PEI.
During this session, Lindsay from Renting PEI will provide more in-depth legal advice regarding tenants’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities. This session is also extremely beneficial for students who are in the process of reviewing the lease agreement and are in contact with their potential landlord.
You are also welcome to bring your own questions that you encountered throughout the house hunting to us.

UPEI’s Island Studies program well represented at international islands-related conferences
Representatives of UPEI’s Island Studies program recently exchanged ideas, expertise, and research with delegates attending islands-related conferences in Ireland and Indonesia.
After a four-year hiatus, the normally biennial North Atlantic Forum is back on track. This year’s forum—the 13th—was held at the Atlantic Technological University in Letterfrack, Connemara, Ireland, from June 18–21.
