Where can I store my belongings at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre?

Lockers are located on main floor General Locker area and on second floor lobby.

Lockers in the facility are day use only. Locks may be cut off at closing. Items can be collected at the Panther Central desk.

Users should bring their own locks as UPEI Athletics and Recreation is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Washrooms are located at the general locker rooms on main level, second floor of lobby and two gender neutral washrooms located outside the fitness centre on the second floor.

Where can I park to visit the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre?

Community members can access the MacLauchlan Arena parking lot, located behind the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre.

Community members may obtain a parking stub from the Bell Aliant Centre Control Desk following their workout.

Metered parking lots are located in front of the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre and W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

Note: The gated lot in front of the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre is for Bell Aliant Centre pool users only. Parking in this lot will require you to pay $9.50 + hst at the pool’s Control Desk.

UPEI Panthers' Lewis Page appointed as first head coach of Halifax Tides FC

After 25 seasons with the UPEI Panthers, men’s and women’s soccer coach Lewis Page is set to begin a new chapter with the Halifax Tides FC. The soccer team is a founding club in the Northern Super League, which is committed to excellence in women’s professional soccer in Canada.

Page has been appointed as the Tides' first head coach for their inaugural season. He will continue to coach the Panthers until the end of the 2024 varsity season before transitioning to his new role in Halifax.

Three people connected to UPEI to receive Order of PEI

Three people connected to UPEI have been named to the Order of PEI, the province’s highest civilian honour.

Kathryn Dau-Schmidt, Dr. Edward MacDonald and Reginald “Dutch” Thompson were selected for the Order of PEI from a field of 49 nominees. They will receive the insignia from Her Honour, Lieutenant-Government Antoinette Perry during a ceremony at Government House this fall. 

Atlantic Veterinary College offers advice for dog owners visiting Atlantic Canada this summer

Summer is officially here, and many dog owners will be visiting Prince Edward Island (PEI) and Atlantic Canada with their furry companions to take in the beaches and other tourist attractions. However, a visit to the many dog-friendly beaches can sometimes turn into a trip to the vet.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable vacation for both dogs and their owners, the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) offers some tips for pet safety during summer travels.

Green and White Day

While Green and White Day falls on the Saturday this year, UPEI community members are encouraged to participate any day of the week during homecoming, and have the opportunity to win a UPEI swag item!

UPEI New Year's Levee 2025

The University of Prince Edward Island and the UPEI Alumni Association are hosting their annual New Year's Levee on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 11:30 am–1:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend.

The levee will be held in the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering Building, University of Prince Edward Island, 550 University Avenue, Charlottetown.
