Welcome Back BBQ at The Mount

The Mount Continuing Care Community is hosting a Welcome Back BBQ for UPEI students on September 11 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.

The event will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the volunteer opportunities at the Mount. You'll be able to socialize with residents, pick up volunteer materials, and meet other students to form new connections. Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

There will be hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks. Gluten free and vegetarian options are available for those who indicate it when registering.

Co-op student networking

The Co-op office is hosting a networking evening with the program coordinators and students in the program on Monday, September 8, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Fox and Crow. Perspective and existing co-op students are all welcome to attend. Applications to join the co-op program run from August 29 to September 17. Students can visit the co-op page, upei.ca/co-op, for more information or email co-op@upei.ca

"AVC was the foundation of my vet career."

When Dr. Dan Fredholm first entered the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) in 2009, he envisioned a future as a small animal veterinarian. Like any great Disney story, destiny had other plans. Today, he is a respected specialist, board-certified by the American College of Zoological Medicine, and clinical veterinarian with Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment.

"Co-op helped me build valuable skills, grow my confidence, and opened so many doors."

What brought you to UPEI? Why did you choose to study here?

My brother suggested the idea of studying abroad, and eventually, I decided to follow in his footsteps! I’m from Yavatmal, a city in the state of Maharashtra, located in the north-central part of India. I already had some family living in PEI, so I was familiar with the place. As I started learning more about UPEI, I found it really welcoming, especially through YouTube videos and student stories. From day one, it felt like a place where I could truly grow.
