Dr. Daniel Elad from Kimron Veterinary Institute in Israel is giving a seminar Thursday, April 17 in AVC-A, at 9:30 am, titled "Challenges Facing the Israeli Veterinary Services and Highlights of Some Animal Infectious Diseases in Israel." Dr. Elad is Head of the Division of Bacteriology and Mycological Laboratory at Kimron Veterinary Institute. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The AVC Summer Academy provides participants with a "big picture" of veterinary school through classroom lectures, field trips, and hands-on sessions. Participants explore the curriculum covered in each year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. Eligibility is based on those who are currently enrolled in, or who have been accepted into, university. Participants must have a minimum B+ (77%) average or GPA 3.3, and be 18 years of age or older. Dr. Richard Kostrzewa will present a special seminar entitled "L-DOPA Effects on Striatal Microdialysate Levels of Hydroxyl Radical in Parkinsonian Rats" on Thursday, April 17 at 10:30 am in AVC, Lecture B. Dr. Kostrzewa is currently Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee. He received his PhD in Pharmacology at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science and his Dr.h.c. in Pharmacology at the Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. His research concentrates on the mechanistic role of 1) dopamine D1 and D2 receptor supersensitivity and 2) serotoninergic modulation of dopaminergic systems. All are welcome to attend.

If you meet all of the above criteria, you may be eligible to participate in the study whose purpose is to evaluate the health effects of blueberry consumption on indicators of diabetes and heart disease.
